Eat Dinner as a Family

It's not just what's for dinner - it's where. Why not have dinner at home, with your family? No more fries under the car seats, and you might even learn something about your kid's day at school. Spend quality time with quality people - your loved ones. You'll eat better, save money and get back in touch.

Go for a Walk

Walk it off. No fancy gym, equipment or trainer required. Just put one foot in front of the other and get moving. It's a new way to see the neighborhood and spend time with your family. And if you've got a dog, you've got someone who's ready to join you anytime.

Use Skim Milk

Milk is milk is milk...right? Well, not really. When you choose skim over 2% milk you're cutting out five grams of fat. That's 35 grams a week. For a family of four that's like eating about 600 cheeseburgers a year. Got Milk? Make it skim.

Switch to Whole Grains

Here's something anyone can do to eat and feel better: Eat more whole grains. Whole grains--found in foods like wild rice, oatmeal and popcorn--reduce the risk of heart disease by decreasing cholesterol levels and blood pressure. And you won't feel like you're giving up anything.

Read Nutrition Labels

The numbers don't lie. So the next time you reach for chips or ice cream, check the nutrition label. There's usually a healthier option, even for your guilty pleasures. And if you're feeling really ambitious, reach for something that doesn't have a label and comes in its own wrapper, like a banana.

Why Live in a Virtual World

When there's a real world just outside your door? So turn off the TV or computer and get out there. The less time you spend in front of a screen, the more time you'll have for family and friends. So power down and power up anything that gets your heart racing and gives your thumbs a rest. Less screen time is more you time.
